Designing the Cleric presented a number of fun challenges. I wanted something that harkened back to the classic B/X undead-fighter but that also fit better into my animistic setting. D&D has always treated polytheistic religions like a bunch of monotheistic cults that operate in parallel along with the goofy Alightnment chart.
I don't love it.
Their divine magic more or less works like a wizard's magic does, but the usual system of Mishaps and Dooms didn't quite fit.
